The two drugs mutually reinforcing measures. It is safe to assume that the physician knows in advance.

I found this. Hope it helps, I know exactly how you feel

Midazolam, a new water soluble benzodiazepine, was investigated as an intravenous anesthetic 260 adult patients at doses of 0.15 to 0,5 mg / kg, with a variety of premedication. Its onset is generally slow, with free rein to 3 minutes to get the maximum effect. Is a large variability in the response that some patients were anesthetized successfully sedated with 0.15 mg / kg, while others were moderately sedated at doses of 0.5 mg / kg. Reduced variability found among the elderly is also needed lower doses. Narcotic premedication potentiated the sedative effect of midazolam. Few adverse respiratory or cardiovascular diseases were observed in the majority of the hiccups after administration of higher doses. The incidence of venous effects was much weaker than diazepam following results.
